POLAR BEAR LOTTERY 2011

The Polar Bear
Lottery awarded $48,000 in cash to 5 lucky
winners –
Brian Wiles, Shanty Bay; Cec Mymko, Parry Sound;
Mervyn McCormick, Alliston and Marilyn Bartwick,
Barrie won the Early Bird Draws of $2,000 each.
The $40,000 Grand Prize was won by Chris Wiwchar
of Barrie.
But the biggest winner was our Learning Centre
for Dyslexic Children at
99 Morrow Road. The net proceeds of $12,000 will
help sustain operations for the next year.
“I wish it was more money for the Learning
Centre”, said John Slessor, Chairman of the
Polar Bear Lottery, “but for the first year we
did pretty well and we’re grateful for the
support of the members and friends. We’re proud
of the effort and the results.”
John went on to announce another ‘Polar Bear
Lottery – 2012’ will start immediately. “It will
be the same as last year - four Early Bird Draws
and the Grand Prize will be awarded at the Pig
and Corn Roast, August 18, 2012.”
According to Chairman Slessor, “If the Learning
Centre is to continue being a success, we need
more ticket sellers and greater participation
from the Valley. Our goal this year is to sell
all 1000 tickets.”
John is appealing to all members of the Valley
to step forward and assist this worthy project.
At the Learning Centre children with dyslexia
acquire reading skills.
